Since its highly anticipated launch earlier this year, Crimson Desert has stunned players with its massive, immersive open-world exploration and brutal combat. Yet players jumping between platforms have shared one major grievance: the inability to carry their progress with them. For all launch coverage see the OzoneNews video games hub.
Developer Pearl Abyss has finally listened. The newly released Update 1.14.00 is rolling out across all platforms this week, and it brings the single most requested feature since launch: native cross-save functionality.
Whether you are grinding gear on your PlayStation 5 from the couch or exploring the vast Pywel continent on a Steam Deck on the go, your single save file will now follow you everywhere. The update also brings a healthy dose of quest fixes, combat adjustments, and performance improvements to the critically acclaimed action RPG.
How Cross-Save Works
Pearl Abyss has streamlined the process for players who want to jump between the PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, and Epic Games Store versions of the game.
To activate the feature, players simply need to navigate to the new Cross-Save page on the Pearl Abyss website and link their respective platform accounts to their centralized Pearl Abyss ID. Once linked, a dedicated Cross_Save slot will appear in the bottom-right corner of the in-game save menu.
| Patch 1.14.00 Detail | Description |
|---|---|
Main Feature | Native Cross-Save (PS5, Xbox, Steam, Epic Games Store) |
Quest FixesProgression blocker | Resolves a progression blocker in "A Dwarf's Concern" |
Combat UpdateInput consistency | Damiane's Skystep input now matches Oongka's Vertical Flight |
Bug Fixes | Pets no longer lock character controls near beds; mount animations fixed |
Audio Tweaks | Praevus the Ancient and Ator's Orb sound bugs resolved |
Players will not find any 4K texture packs, 120-frame-per-second modes, or FOV sliders here, this is a feature patch, not a remaster. What you get is the same Crimson Desert you have been playing, now with a save file that follows you across every platform.
Squashing Bugs and Winning Awards
While the cross-save feature is the undisputed highlight of Patch 1.14.00, Pearl Abyss also deployed several crucial quality-of-life adjustments.
A frustrating bug that prevented players from completing the "A Dwarf's Concern" quest has been squashed, alongside a bizarre interaction where pets jumping on beds would completely freeze the player character's controls. Combat has also been slightly tweaked for consistency, Damiane's "Skystep" maneuver now uses the identical control input as Oongka's "Vertical Flight," and the "Aerial Force Palm" will no longer awkwardly interrupt while free-falling.
The patch arrives right as Pearl Abyss takes a major victory lap in the tech world. At the recent Develop:Star Awards, the studio's proprietary BlackSpace Engine, the powerhouse driving Crimson Desert's staggering visuals and seamless world, took home the award for Best Technical Innovation, beating out heavy hitters like Death Stranding 2 and Ghost of Yotei.
With cross-save now officially live and rumors of technical feasibility studies regarding a multiplayer mode continuing to swirl, Pearl Abyss is proving it is fully committed to supporting its ambitious medieval masterpiece.
