Following the massive release of The Kortz Center Heist earlier this month and the launch of the ongoing Summer Heist Event, Rockstar Games has been quietly working behind the scenes to iron out some lingering frustrations. On July 29, 2026, the studio pushed out a new background update designed to squash several prominent glitches affecting the game's newest, highly replayable heist.
According to reporting by Aaron Trueman at RockstarINTEL, this latest patch was handled entirely server-side, meaning players will not need to manually download an update to their consoles or PCs.
Squashing the Helicopter Bug
The most significant fix in this background update addresses a massive headache players were experiencing during the Kortz Center Heist Finale.
Prior to the patch, a highly frustrating bug caused the Stealth Annihilator helicopter to abruptly drop to the ground the moment players received the prompt to rappel during the mission. This glitch effectively ruined stealth approaches and forced countless mission restarts. Rockstar has confirmed that the helicopter physics and rappel prompts are now functioning correctly.
| Mission | Bug Fixed in Background Update |
|---|---|
Kortz Center Heist FinaleHELICOPTER | Stealth Annihilator no longer drops to the ground when the rappel prompt appears. Stealth approaches now work as intended. |
Most Wanted | WhitneyAI BEHAVIOR | Fixed an issue where target Grace Whitney would fail to flee during the mission, soft-locking progress. |
KnoWay Out | Trash TalkingNPC LINGER | Resolved a bug causing KnoWay supervisors to remain in the area even after players collected all three trash bags. |
Oscar Guzman Flies Again | Setup: AmmunitionVEHICLE | Fixed erratic Velum aircraft behavior that was causing the mission to fail unexpectedly. |
The Summer Heist Event Continues
The bug fixes arrive at the perfect time, as Rockstar is currently pushing players back into the art gallery.
On July 30, the studio officially launched the GTA Online Summer Heist Event, which runs through August 5. As part of the event, Rockstar has cycled in two brand-new, high-value paintings as Primary Targets for the Kortz Center Heist. Players can choose to sell these new targets on the black market or display them inside their custom Mansion Art Studios.
The event is also offering 2X GTA$ and RP on classic missions like The Fleeca Job, The Pacific Standard Heist, and A Superyacht Life.
These background fixes are separate from the massive 1.73 Patch Notes that accompanied the initial launch of the Kortz Center Heist on July 14, which brought new mansions, the purchasable Art Studio, and a wave of new vehicles to the game.
Whether you are dropping in from the Stealth Annihilator or sneaking through the museum's back doors, the Kortz Center should now be a much smoother operation.
