Neverness to Everness Overview | Anime GTA
Neverness to Everness (often abbreviated NTE) is a free-to-play open-world anime RPG developed by Hotta Studio (creators of Tower of Fantasy) and published by Perfect World Games. Launching globally on April 29, 2026 for PC, PS5, iOS, and Android, the game has been described as "anime GTA" for its emphasis on urban exploration, driving mechanics, and dynamic open-world interactions.
As of March 30, 2026, Neverness to Everness surpassed 30 million pre-registrations, unlocking the top-tier reward: a free A-Class character (Haniel) for all players at launch. The game uses a gacha monetization model similar to Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail, where players summon characters and weapons using premium currency.
NTE is set in the modern urban city of Hethereau, where players join the "Eibon Detective Agency" to investigate supernatural anomalies while balancing everyday life (driving, shopping, socializing). The game blends action RPG combat with life simulation elements.
Gameplay | Open-World Exploration & Driving
Urban Exploration
Neverness to Everness features a fully explorable Hethereau City, a modern metropolis with skyscrapers, highways, residential districts, and underground tunnels. Players can walk, run, climb buildings, or drive vehicles (cars, motorcycles, delivery trucks) to navigate the city. The map is approximately 15 square kilometers, smaller than Genshin Impact but denser with interactive content.
Combat System
Combat is real-time action with character-switching mechanics. Players build teams of 1-4 characters, each with unique weapon types (swords, guns, magic books) and elemental affinities (Fire, Ice, Lightning, Void). Ultimate abilities (called Bursts) trigger cinematic cutscenes.
Driving & Vehicles
Unlike most anime RPGs, Neverness to Everness includes fully drivable vehicles with realistic physics. Players can customize cars with paint jobs, decals, and performance upgrades. Driving is required for certain missions (high-speed chases, deliveries) and offers fast travel across the city.
Life Simulation
Between missions, players can engage in slice-of-life activities: eating at restaurants (buffs stats), shopping for cosmetics, decorating apartments, and building relationships with NPCs through dialogue trees. These activities unlock character stories and premium currency rewards.
Story | Eibon Detective Agency
The story follows a customizable protagonist who joins the Eibon Detective Agency, a private investigation firm specializing in supernatural cases. Hethereau City is plagued by Anomalies—rifts in reality that spawn monsters and distort time/space.
The agency\'s mission is to investigate these Anomalies, rescue civilians, and uncover the source of the reality-warping phenomenon. The narrative explores themes of identity, memory, and the nature of reality, with multiple story arcs focused on individual characters\' pasts.
Characters | Haniel & Launch Roster
Neverness to Everness launches with 12 playable characters, divided into five rarity tiers (S, A, B, C, D). The 30M pre-registration milestone unlocked Haniel, an A-Class ice mage, as a free character for all players.
- Haniel (A-Class) — Ice mage, crowd control specialist, free for all players.
- Lune (S-Class) — Fire sword user, high DPS.
- Seele (S-Class) — Lightning sniper, long-range damage dealer.
- Kaito (A-Class) — Void support, healer and buffer.
Monetization | Gacha System
Neverness to Everness uses a gacha monetization model. Players summon characters and weapons using Wish Tickets (earned in-game or purchased with real money). The rates are:
- S-Class character: 0.6% per pull (pity at 90 pulls).
- A-Class character: 5% per pull.
- B-Class character: 15% per pull.
A Battle Pass system offers monthly rewards for $10, and cosmetic skins are sold separately for $5-$20. All story content and gameplay features are free, with gacha limited to characters and weapons.
Pre-Release Reception | 30M Pre-Regs
Neverness to Everness\'s 30M pre-registrations place it among the most anticipated gacha launches of 2026, behind only Honkai: Star Rail (50M) and Zenless Zone Zero (40M). Early beta feedback praised the driving mechanics and city design but criticized repetitive combat encounters and long load times on mobile.
