The Grind Continues | Shangri-La Frontier Season 3 and New Video Game Announced

Fans of the hit VRMMO anime Shangri-La Frontier received a massive double-announcement earlier this year. Not only is the highly anticipated third season officially in production, but the franchise is also making the leap from fictional video game to a real-world playable experience.

The official website and social media accounts for the anime revealed that Shangri-La Frontier Season 3 will begin broadcasting in January 2027.

The announcement was accompanied by a striking new teaser visual. The image features protagonist Rakuro Hizutome (Sunraku) glowing with a mysterious energy, while the imposing silhouettes of three massive, unidentified figures loom ominously in the background.

Entering the Galaxia Heroes: Chaos Arc

Season 3 is expected to pick up immediately following the events of the second season, which concluded its two-cour run in March 2025.

The upcoming season will thrust fans into the highly anticipated Galaxia Heroes: Chaos arc. This storyline shifts the focus slightly away from the titular fantasy MMO to showcase an intense, high-stakes battle between the Japanese team, Nitro Squad, and the American team, Star Reign.

Behind the scenes, the production team remains stable. Toshiyuki Kubooka (Wandering Witch: The Journey of Elaina) will return to direct the anime at studio C2C, ensuring the fluid and dynamic combat animation that has defined the series continues into the new season.

The First Video Game Adaptation | The Seven Colossi

While the wait for Season 3 stretches into 2027, fans will not have to wait that long to interact with Sunraku, Emul, and Arthur Pencilgon.

Alongside the anime announcement, Netmarble Nexus officially unveiled Shangri-La Frontier ~Nanatsu no Saikyo-shu~, which roughly translates to The Seven Colossi. This marks the very first video game adaptation for the franchise.

First teased back in 2023, the game is scheduled for a 2026 release across iOS, Android, and PC. While specific gameplay details are still under wraps, a new promotional video released by Netmarble showcased high-quality 3D models of the anime's cast and hinted at action-RPG mechanics that will allow players to take on the game's infamous Unique Monsters.

With a new season on the horizon and a major video game release imminent, the Shangri-La Frontier franchise is leveling up in a big way.
