A brand-new teaser trailer for the highly anticipated anime adaptation of Oreco Tachibana's hit historical romance manga dropped yesterday, revealing key details about the upcoming series. Produced by the acclaimed studio david production, best known for JoJo's Bizarre Adventure and Fire Force, the anime is officially set to premiere in Japan on October 9, 2026.
It was also confirmed that Crunchyroll will stream the series worldwide as it airs.
The Deadly Premise
Set during Japan's Meiji era, Firefly Wedding follows Satoko Kirigaya, the beautiful daughter of a nobleman who seemingly has it all. However, beneath the surface, Satoko is suffering from a terminal heart condition and only has a short time left to live. Her sole objective is to secure a marriage that will benefit her family before she passes.
Her plans are violently derailed when she becomes the target of a mysterious and deadly assassin named Shinpei. In a desperate bid for survival, Satoko makes him a shocking proposal: marriage. Unfortunately for her, Shinpei takes the vow "until death do we part" incredibly seriously.
